Congratulations to the Boys and Girls who were confirmed here in St. Canice’s on Saturday by Fr. Jim and Fr. Peter. We wish to express our gratitude to the Parents and the Teachers, Ms. Henderson, Mr. Hanrick, and Mr. Hoyne for all the support and work of preparation which they have done.
It was inspiring to read the letters the Confirmandi wrote beforehand expressing their wishes to be confirmed. They are happy to become full members of the Church, and with the help of the Holy Spirit to be able to give witness in the world of their faith in and love of Jesus Christ. With the help of the Parents and Sponsors these young people will continue to grow and to use the lovely gifts they all have, so that they may make a great contribution to the betterment of our world. They mention their appreciation of the love and encouragement of their Parents and the importance of their Families.
The interests in sports and love of animals feature in most of the contributions. It is most heartening to read the positive comments about school and how much they enjoy school life. One person said that it will be both a sad and a happy day ; happy that we will be all together to celebrate the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and sad that this will be one of the last important occasions we will celebrate in school and parish before we move on to secondary school.
We wish them every blessing of the Lord.
We have had wonderful singing and music in our celebration. We are indebted to our Principal, Ms. Maria Comerford, our Deputy Principal, Mr. Peter Nolan and all the wonderful and co-operative and harmonious Staff of St. Canice’s School for the great work they are doing in the education of the boys and girls.
